KA-05 is the RTO code for the Jayanagar Regional Transport Office, which handles vehicle registration, driving licences and related services for Bangalore South. This page covers its address, contact details, jurisdiction and driving-test facilities.

After 45 years in Jayanagar — the last 11 of them in rented space at BMTC's TTMC building on 4th Block — the Bengaluru South RTO (KA-05) moved to a newly built facility in Anjanapura, on Kanakapura Road, opening to the public on 18 August 2025.

The new office is at Survey No. 64/1, Anjanapura, Uttarahalli Hobli, JP Nagar 9th Phase, Bengaluru – 560108. The move was reported by Deccan Herald, The Hans India and other outlets at the time.

KA-05 is the registration code for the Bengaluru South Regional Transport Office — still commonly called the "Jayanagar RTO" after its home for 45 years, even though it moved to Anjanapura on Kanakapura Road in August 2025. It's the licensing authority (Section 9) and registering authority (Section 39) under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, for Bangalore South.

The new office is a purpose-built, three-storey facility — a considerable upgrade from the rented commercial space it operated out of in Jayanagar for its last 11 years there.

KA-05 covers Jayanagar and the surrounding Bangalore South catchment — the RTO's jurisdiction hasn't changed with the office relocation, only its physical address has.

Several KA-05 services can be started or completed through Parivahan, Sarathi or Vahan without an office visit — this generally includes many registration-related applications, ownership-transfer paperwork, and licence renewals in a number of cases. Steps that typically still require attendance in person include the practical driving test, biometric verification for certain licence services, and vehicle fitness inspection.

The exact set of fully paperless services changes over time and wasn't something we could confirm service-by-service for this office. Use "start online, attend in person only where required" as the reliable general rule.

1. Driving Licence and the Practical Test

Karnataka's automated driving test tracks (ADTT) are concentrated at a small number of RTOs — historically including Electronic City and Jnanabharati (Mallathahalli, near Kengeri) — and KA-05 candidates have historically been routed to one of these shared tracks rather than tested at the Jayanagar office itself, which had no room for its own track.

We could not confirm whether the new, much larger Anjanapura facility (spread across roughly 38,800 square metres) now includes its own test track, or whether candidates are still routed to Mallathahalli or Singasandra. Don't assume a specific test venue — confirm where your test will actually be conducted when you book your slot through Sarathi.

2. Commercial Vehicle Inspection

Commercial vehicle fitness inspections for KA-05 are handled at designated Bangalore South inspection grounds, separate from the administrative office. We could not independently verify a single precise address for this — confirm the current inspection location by phone before sending a vehicle for testing.

The RTO's new Anjanapura location sits in Bengaluru's far south, on Kanakapura Road — a considerably longer trip from the city centre than the old Jayanagar office was:

• Metro: The Green Line's southern terminus, now named Silk Institute station, was previously called "Anjanapura" / "Anjanapura Township" station — it's on Kanakapura Road in the same general area as the new office. We don't have a confirmed walking distance from the station to the RTO building, so plan your final leg by auto or cab.

• Road: Kanakapura Road is the main approach from central Bengaluru; budget extra travel time if you're used to the old Jayanagar location.

• Bus (BMTC): We could not confirm current BMTC route numbers serving the new office — check BMTC's own route planner.

• Parking: The new facility is purpose-built and larger than the old rented premises, so on-site parking is likely less constrained than at the old Jayanagar location — though we haven't independently confirmed this.
