DL-06 is the registration code for the Central Zone's Zonal Transport Office, operating under the Transport Department, Government of NCT of Delhi. It is the licensing authority (Section 9) and registering authority (Section 39) under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, for a catchment centred on Nizamuddin, Lajpat Nagar, Ashram, Bhogal, Jangpura and Sarai Kale Khan itself.

The office sits inside one of Delhi's busiest multi-modal transit hubs — the Sarai Kale Khan ISBT, which also connects to the Metro, Indian Railways, and, as of early 2026, the new regional rapid rail network (see "How to Reach DL-06" below).

Faceless Online vs Physical Attendance

Most routine DL-06 paperwork — registration-related applications, ownership transfer, duplicate RCs, address changes, and licence renewals in a number of cases — can be filed through Parivahan/Sarathi/Vahan without a counter visit. Steps that still require attendance in person include the practical driving test and commercial vehicle fitness inspection.

Which services are fully paperless changes over time. Check the current service list on Parivahan before assuming a counter visit is required.

Driving Licence and the ADTT

The practical driving test for DL-06 is conducted at the Automated Driving Test Track (ADTT) at Sarai Kale Khan, inside the ISBT complex — not at the administrative counters. The Delhi Transport Department's own website publishes periodic test-result notices for a driving-training centre here. It also appears to be a shared facility: at least one source describes it as also serving nearby RTO codes, including DL-03 (Sheikh Sarai), so you may be tested alongside applicants from other zones.

Appointment/slot rules and exact track layout can change, so book and confirm your test slot through Sarathi rather than assuming a specific procedure.

Commercial Vehicle Fitness and Inspection

Commercial vehicle fitness inspection for DL-06 is not conducted at the Sarai Kale Khan office. It's handled at the Inspection & Certification (I&C) Centre, Burari — a long-standing Delhi facility. As with other Delhi zonal offices, fitness testing has since expanded to further Automated Testing Stations across the city, so confirm your assigned centre when you book a fitness slot rather than assuming Burari by default.

The Sarai Kale Khan ISBT is one of Delhi's best-connected transit hubs, and it recently got even better connected:

• Metro: Sarai Kale Khan–Nizamuddin station (Pink Line) is directly part of the same transit complex — roughly a 200 m walk.

• Railway: Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station is also part of the same hub, about 500 m away.

• RRTS (new): The Sarai Kale Khan RRTS station — serving the new Namo Bharat regional rapid rail network toward Meerut, with Alwar and Panipat corridors under construction — opened here on 22 February 2026. If you're travelling in from outside Delhi on one of these corridors, this is now a direct option many older guides won't mention yet.

• Bus: The ISBT itself serves DTC, Haryana Roadways and Rajasthan State Road Transport routes.

• Road: Ring Road and the Delhi–Meerut Expressway both serve the complex.

• Parking: Available at the ISBT complex; arriving by metro or rail is generally more reliable at a hub this busy.
