Rooftop Solar FAQâs
a. Rooftop Solar refers to a Rooftop Solar Plant and we offer comprehensive Rooftop Solar solutions for Residential use.
a. Any consumer that owns an independent house with shadow-free terrace/roof can install a rooftop solar plant.
a. Rooftop solar plant capacity depends on a few factors 1. Average power consumption of a household: An average power bill of âš3000 a month at âš5 per unit translates to a monthly consumption of 600 units of power and a daily consumption of 20 units of power. An average rooftop solar plant generates about 4kW (units) of power per day. In this case, a plant with 5kW capacity (5x4 = 20kW per day) would generate the equivalent of average consumption of this household. 2. Shadow-free terrace/roof area: Every additional kW capacity needs about 100sqft of shadow free area. Eg. A 4kW plant will need about 400sqft 3. Budget: Average cost per kW capacity of a rooftop solar plant is about âš50,000-60,000. Typically, an optimal rooftop solar plant (installed capacity is equivalent to consumption patterns) breaks even in less than 3 years. The financing options combined with Government subsidy should solve this constraint. 4. Ecozaar Solar Calculator: This is a smart calculator that helps you calculate and optimize your Rooftop Solar requirements.
a. No. We offer comprehensive solutions where all you need to select is the required capacity and the bundle that suits your needs.
a. We initiate a feasibility survey through a local partner to make sure that a solar plant can be installed in your residence. b. If the feasibility survey is positive, you will be given a quotation with all the components, specifications and the cost (you would have already paid or opted for a loan). There can be two decision factors at this point: 1. Height of the structure: Our bundles offer structures upto 6 feet of GI. If you need a taller structure, the price would increase based on the additional height. 2. Bi-Directional Meter: The price of this meter varies depending on the Power Distribution Company and phase of the connection. 3. Sanctioned Load: If there is a significant mismatch between the rooftop solar capacity and the sanctioned load, the DISCOM might levy some fees to upgrade the sanctioned load before permitting the commissioning of the plant. c. The material will be dispatched to your location. d. The local partner installs the plant. e. DISCOM permits and commissioning: The local partner helps with getting DISCOM permits and commissioning of the plant so that the plant gets connected to the grid.
a. Once the plant is commissioned, it starts supplying electricity to the grid. The bi-directional meter records the amount of electricity contributed to the grid and stores as credits with the Power Distribution Company. When the electricity bill is calculated, the earned credits are set off against the consumed electricity. If your grid generates equal or more than what you consume, you will end up paying 0 electricity bill or whatever is the minimum amount.
a. The local partner will help with the application for the subsidy. b. The subsidy gets credited after some time. The subsidy starts at âš30,000 per kW for the first 2kW and then âš18,000 per kW, capped at a maximum subsidy of âš78,000.
a. An On-Grid system is a solar plant that is connected to the power grid through a bi-directional meter.
a. This is the rate at which the Power Distribution Company (DISCOM) buys back the power from its customers.
a. Yes. The solar plant can be connected to a UPS or a battery. This is out of our scope.
a. No. To ensure the safety of the people who might be repairing the grid, the solar plant stops generation during power outages. b. The solar inverters have the inbuilt property called anti-islanding which makes sure that the moment there is a power outage at the grid, it stops supplying power to the grid.
a. Power bill b. Any document that indicates ownership of the residence (Eg. Sale deed) c. Aadhaar and PAN
a. No, there is no return policy.
a. Full payment through Cards and Net Banking b. Rooftop Solar loan
a. It may take up to 45 days from the date of feasibility survey for commissioning the plant. The factors that cause such timelines are availability of material, Government permits etc.
